Hello! I have decided to run for School Board in 2024 and I would appreciate the opportunity to earn your support and your vote.
A little about me. My husband, Mike, and I have an 8th grade daughter at CMS and a 5th grade son at Eagle Heights. I have been on the Eagle Heights PTO since my daughter was in Kindergarten and I have served as a President and Vice President over the years. I also serve on the PTO President’s Council, so I have the honor to partner with the PTO leadership from all of the schools across the district. I was the Chair of the Spring Fling committee for the Class of 2029 and I plan to volunteer for the Class of 2032. I am proud to be a Board Member for the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools.
I am a Co-Service Unit Manager/Community Leader for Eden Prairie Girl Scouts. Our community of Girl Scouts seeks to empower Eden Prairie girls to be strong leaders, advocate for themselves and others, and serve our community. We also seek to build a strong community of support for our adult volunteers.
In my free time I love to tap dance. My daughter and I joined Prairie School of Dance in a mommy & me class in 2012 and we have both been dancing there ever since. This year will be 10 years dancing with a fantastic group of women.
In my day job I am an employment attorney at the firm of Ogletree Deakins. I work with employers to help them navigate the day-to-day needs of their workforce and solve problems when they arise. It is my job to help employers consider how their practices and policies may impact each employee. How has the Company considered employees who may not be typical members of their team? Do Company practices create unintended problems for caregivers, people with disabilities, employee religious beliefs, or do the practices/policies impact protected groups differently? And when policies are implemented, do employees see how the Company considered them and that they are valued? All of these considerations are important to engage and retain employees.
I believe all of these considerations are also important for a thriving school district like Eden Prairie. As a School Board member, I would focus on:
- Continuously improving how our district makes policies that support each student’s unique abilities and needs, and how families see that the district thought of their student.
- Building additional pathways for community engagement with an eye towards student retention and local business support.
- Finding new ways to support our teachers and staff to strengthen employee retention.
Please check out my Facebook page and feel free to message me with any questions you may have about how I would approach a role on the School Board if I earn the honor to be able to serve.
